🧭 How Identity Forms and Why Some People Feel Lost in Their 20s

Your twenties are often described as a time of freedom, excitement, and self-discovery. But for many people, this stage of life feels disorienting. You may find yourself questioning everything, from your relationships to your values. It can feel like everyone else is moving forward while you are stuck in place.

This feeling of being lost is more common than most people admit. It often arises during moments of transition, when old structures begin to fall away. Maybe you have moved away from home, ended a relationship, changed career paths, or simply started noticing that the life you are living does not feel entirely your own.

Identity is not something we are handed. It is something we build. And that process can be messy, uncertain, and emotional. The beliefs you grew up with, the roles you played in your family, and the expectations placed on you can all shape how you see yourself today.

In therapy, we create space to slow down and explore. We look at the different parts of you that are asking to be seen. We trace how your past continues to influence your present and how you might begin to choose more consciously the person you want to become.

Feeling lost does not mean something is wrong with you. It often means you are in the very middle of growing.
